The Germans are bombing England and Sally is going to stay in Miss Dodson's house. In the house, Sally sees some children laughing and talking. One of the girls says: "Mee Lee?" but Sally doesn't understand. Sally talks to Miss Dobson but she tells Sally that there are no children there. Then she understands that those children are ghosts and that they are looking for something. Sally talks to them and, in the end, Miss Dodson and Sally find out that they are looking for a locket with their mother's photo. They decide to leave the locket on the kitchen table so that the ghosts can take it and rest in peace.
The book is fantastic and fun:)
